Welcome to Thornton for Judge!

Please allow me to introduce myself.  I’m Nick Thornton and I’m running for District Court Judge in the Southeast Judicial District. My roots run deep in the District and it’s time for me to come home. I grew up in Jamestown. My family has called Jamestown home for over 35 years. The rest of my family remains close-by in surrounding communities.

Throughout my legal career, I have been committed to fairness and equal justice for everyone. I represent individual people. I have firsthand knowledge of how cases affect families, businesses, and communities. I have represented well over 4,000 people with every sort of crime one can imagine from driving under suspension to murder. My clients include the mentally ill, the chemically dependent, the poor and the downtrodden. I have represented victims, and worked with witnesses from every walk of life.  I have practiced against prosecutors and in most courts across the State. In addition to my criminal cases, I have broad experience in family law, business law, civil litigation, and almost any other area of the law that might come before this court. I also spend a good deal of my time volunteering to make the legal system better for everyone and to improve the lives of those who use it. The breadth and depth of my experience, training and education set me apart in this election.

I strongly believe everyone must be treated with respect and dignity, and the law must be applied as it is written, in a fair and just manner. My extensive experience and legal knowledge, work ethic, and my passion for helping people will bring a broad, qualified and diverse perspective to the bench. As a judge, I can make two promises. First, I promise to work as hard as I can to be the best judge I can be. Second, I promise to do my best to make sure everyone feels they have been respected, their positions have been heard and fairly considered, and the law has been fairly and evenly applied.  You can count on me if you trust me with your vote.

When you vote in this election, I ask for your support and your vote for Judge of the District Court.  Thank you.

Sincerely,

Nick D. Thornton
